While it is surely depressing that deplorables will never have the courage, patriotism, intelligence, or decency to face the cognitive dissonance involved with acknowledging the facts of Trump’s crimes and corruption, it is also not the point. So what is the point?
Roughly half of eligible voters didn’t cast a ballot in the 2016 presidential election. Of the half that did, more voted for Clinton than for Hair Furor. That means Trump cultists are less than a quarter of eligible voters! We don’t need to persuade them, they’re not persuadable. No, we need to marginalize them.
I suspect that, while we will see only very little of people leaving the cult or at least becoming less involved with it, we will also see almost no growth in the cult now that its falseness has been exposed for everyone not already committed to it. Where I think that we will benefit is in the potential to grow the population that opposes the Trump cult. People who are motivated to take the action of voting against Trump having been offended or alarmed after absorbing the impeachment hearings’ revelations is where we stand to gain.
Again, half of eligible voters didn’t vote in 2016. That is a MUCH larger group of people than the group that committed to the cult. They are not emotionally or psychologically committed to him or his rhetoric. They are persuadable. Take into account that timing is fortunate for this too. The generation that either just became voting age or are about to become voting age is MASSIVE. We have growth potential that dwarfs theirs and the impeachment will aid in our efforts toward that growth. It will grease the skids for our effort to grow our base and get them to the polls.
Our job is to stay unified after the nomination process unlike last time and to GET OUT THE VOTE!
We have a lot of growth potential while they have next to none.
