It’s not been just me who have been freaking out about the SCROTUS decision to take up Trump’s immunity claims as portending the end of rule of law in the US. But after having read this article in Stephanie Jones blog, I have some hope that things aren’t as dark as they first seem. Please read the article for the whole story but the following words from Ms. Jone’s article I believe could explain the otherwise very disturbing SCROTUS decision:
“if the Supreme Court had declined to hear this case, they may have sped up the January 6 trial, but would have allowed Trump to indefinitely delay just about any other criminal proceeding against him anywhere else in the country for much longer than it will take for the Court to permanently resolve the immunity issue raised in this case.”

Ms. Jones gives good reasons that are convincing to me that the SCROTUS granting cert on an otherwise insane claim by Trump is not as malignant as it might first seem. This also explains why the three legitimate justices have not said anything about the decision, as one might expect if it were simply a play to protect “He Who Must Not Be Named. Please read Ms. Jones article and comment as you see fit. I am usually very pessimistic about the future of this country and the eventuality of the US becoming a Theocratic authoritarian hell hole. But this article has done a lot to talk me off of the ledge. Perhaps it will do the same for the rest of us.
