If you have been following my story, you knew that this was coming. If you helped to make it happen, my kids and I truly appreciate you and are very thankful. If you have not been following our story, you can find it here. Out of desperation, I posted about the situation and hoped that the collection of minds to be found on Dkos might have suggestions and experience which might be helpful.
It turns out to have been a good move. A lot of wisdom was shared with me. I was pointed toward resources that are available to me, and u/bigjacbigjacbigjac suggested that I should setup a gofundme campaign. I set it up here. This community has blown me away with big warm hearts. It is because of all of the advice, donations, encouragement, and wisdom that this is possible.
This morning, a rantal RV was delivered to my employers’ property! My kids and I will now have a roof over our heads, a place to cook and sleep, and a place for schoolwork to be done! I have rented it with funds from the donations and will have it for the 10 days needed to wait for the place that we can have until the end of September to become available.
We’re certainly no out of the woods yet, but this grants us a nearly 5 month grace period in which to not be worried about homelessness while I work to save up money for first/last/deposit on a year long lease! I cannot thank everybody who helped enough. Each of you is a wonderful person for helping me keep my children sheltered and on track to have stability while we rebuild our lives. It will remain a tough hand to play, but this is a huge obstacle that has been overcome by kind people here in our community. I really do love you all for this. I finally feel as if I can take a deep breath and get to work on rebuilding instead of just trying to stop the bleeding.
I can feel the worry lessening in my 2 teens. My son even told me that he is starting to feel happiness again and that he sees my plan for getting stable beginning to work. I am not sure if you can all imagine how good it felt to hear him say that. It was wonderful.
Thank you so much y’all! I truly do love you all for this. It’s so much better to feel this hope and to know that there are people rooting for me who have my back!
