I have had this question since all the experimental drugs used have been mentioned. It is possible that trump may clear his way through COVID (although I tend to think that is unlikely).
But, what will/does strike at the HEART of his COVID argument about the “best medicines” goes beyond that he is literally the only patient to receive such treatment it will be the price tag that individuals will see and realize if they get COVID they have no chance whatsoever of receiving the same.
According to calculations by the newspaper, the president’s arrival and departure by helicopter, multiple coronavirus tests, oxygen, steroids and an experimental antibody treatment would have amounted to tens of thousands to any normal citizen.

I don’t know about you, but when I get the Flu, I rent a few movies from Amazon Prime, and buy some chicken noodle soup.
Also, the cost of the FLU shot itself is at CVS $39.99

Granted, part of this is from the Helicopter ride. But, there is no known cost for the “cocktails”
Some other specifics:
Remdesivir the new coronavirus treatment created by Gilead that the president received costs $3,120 when purchased by private insurers and $2,340 with public programs like Medicare and Medicaid.
. . .
Regeneron, the antibody cocktail given to the president does not currently carry a charge due as it is only currently available for clinical trial participants or compassionate use.
The 74-year-old president, who left the hospital on Monday, argued that “we have the best medical equipment” and so people should not be afraid. “Don’t let it dominate you. Don’t be afraid of it,” he continued. Don't let it dominate," he added.
In March analysis from the Kaiser Family Foundation estimated that the average cost of Covid-19 treatment for someone with employer insurance, and without complications, would be about $9,763. Someone whose treatment has complications may see bills escalate to around $20,292.
This also leaves out long-term care for what is likely lung damage. Tests administered that we do not know about, etc.
So we are easily talking upwards of $100,000 for the ongoing care. And americans are footing the bill I suppose despite his willful exposure.
But this is the Counter-punch to “go get it” if you’re healthy you may only pay $10,000 if you have insurance. Expect that to go up to more like $20,000.00. And if you want the VIP plan of likely not dying you’re talking $100,000.00.
Some Flu. What an intellectually dishonest jerk.
I think he should pay it himself, but as we know he is broke and Medicaid would foot the bill as a penniless senior.
But any mention of “the best care” should mention if you are willing to go bankrupt or get a mortgage on your home.
I am thrilled we are getting an idea of the cost of this “available care”. Again note this is without the cost of the experimentals, and tests we have no idea about, and everything else we don’t know.
Will Trump offer to pay this for himself? will he offer to pay for you, and you or me to save fellow Americans?
