IANAL, but I have to wonder about something. In his tweets today, Trump said:
....COMING HOME! We were supposed to be there for 30 days - That was 10 years ago. When these pundit fools who have called the Middle East wrong for 20 years ask what we are getting out of the deal, I simply say, THE OIL, AND WE ARE BRINGING OUR SOLDIERS BACK HOME, ISIS SECURED!
He has said several times that the oil is ours and that US soldiers will remain in Syria to secure the oil. His recent utterances (ravings), then, indicate that as far as he’s concerned, it’s not about ISIS in Syria nor honoring our commitment to the Kurds, but it’s all about the oil that is now “ours.”
Well, here’s what the International Humanitarian Law (international law that governs warfare) says about it:
ihl-databases.icrc.org/…
Article 6(b) of the 1945 IMT Charter (Nuremberg) includes “plunder of public or private property” in its list of war crimes, for which there must be individual responsibility.
I invite those who know more than I (which is practically everyone, except Trump) to explain what this means. I take it to mean that you can’t invade another country and take their oil, or their coal, or their anything as a spoil of war.
If I’m right, then did Trump just admit to violating that?
