Forewarned is, or should be, forearmed.
Chauncey Devega at Salon has a great article in which he discusses an interview with Yale historian Timothy Snyder. Please read the article — it may be the most important thing you have read in a long time:

Look, simply put, Timothy Snyder has identified what may be going on with the Republican silence over the Russian tampering in the 2016 elections and the very real probability they will do it again in 2018. The GOP, meaning Trump, Ryan, and McConnell, are going to let the Russians run amok in the 2018 elections — they’re just going to allow it — because the end result is, as I read it, binary:
Either the Russians influence the election enough to maintain the GOP majorities in the House and Senate, or the Russians are unable to stem what we pray will be a Democratic landslide. Either way, the GOP wins.
What?
If the Russians are successful and maintain the GOP majorities, then nothing will be done. The GOP will do just as they’re doing now. They will have some pro forma investigations, pin it all on Hillary, and drive on with their destruction of America.
If the Russians are unsuccessful and the Democrats take the majority, the GOP will scream bloody murder that the elections were invalid. There will be multiple investigations and lawsuits in the lame duck period, with the conclusion that the elections were hopelessly flawed and, “it only makes sense,” the results should be thrown out. The seating of the newly-elected Democratic members will be delayed endlessly, or never happen at all.
You think they won’t do it? That they would never be that brazen?
I refer you to the Supreme Court seat of Gorsuch that Mitch McConnell brazenly stole.
Frankly (to use Newt’s favorite word), I think it’s at least a 50-50 that the GOP will do just that. They will mobilize the base, there will be a hue and cry over the illegality of the election, and they will stay in power. Four years ago such a scenario would have been laughed at — it wouldn’t have made the first edit of a poorly-conceived pulp novel. Today?
