I’m a senior citizen. My close friends are seniors with little or no money. One friend is an 81-year-old man working at a grocery store bagging groceries. One friend is 72. She works at a major warehouse store giving samples to people.
Fear has invaded our conversations. Every person I know is afraid for their future. The world as we knew it is dead.
I spend most of my time trying to get my friends to laugh and smile. I remind them life is a precious gift. We must be forever diligent and fight for change but we must stop giving President Trump and his base so much power over us.
I was alive in the 1960's. I was in Vietnam in 1968. I remember the turmoil.
I must remind everyone that it will take decades to fix the damage that Fox and the Republicans have done to this country.
Run for office. Stand for something. Our message can’t be we’re the party against Trump. We’re the party for Single-pay insurance. We want equal rights for all our citizens. We want a strong EPA. Public education is a good thing. We believe in a separation of church and state.
We may lose elections for awhile but someday we will start winning.
Fight for change as hard as you can. While you're doing that, remember not to let the bastards in power keep you from smiling and laughing.
The future comes before you know it. One day will be your last on Earth.
