I grew up in the Midwest, spent over 10 years in Arizona, and now I’m in crazy-ass Florida. I have talked to so many people that own guns, love their guns, shoot their guns often, that it is just a natural thing. The last time I went to see my dad, we went to an outdoor shooting range (in the middle of the swamp), and I saw more armament there than a Burn Notice episode.
It was fun. It was loud. It was impressive. One guy had an AR-15 setup with a tripod, scope, and siting kit (like a sniper’s spotter would have). He had it trained in on bulls-eye at 150 yards. I was lucky to hit the board with the 22 at 50 yards. Another man had a 50-caliber sniper rifle. Did I mention it was loud?
But in the end, I just have a few questions for these folks before we talk about the whole ‘taking the guns away’ thing.
Have you ever shot any person in a non-combatant situation?
Have you ever felt like you needed to?
Have you ever pulled your gun on a person?
Have you ever wanted to use your gun to intimidate anyone?
Have you ever fired your weapon outside a firing range for any other reason?
If you answer ‘Yes’ to any of those questions, then you are exactly the type of person that should never own firearms.

I apologize to those actual responsible gun owners and their friends that took this as a slight, but it sort of proves my point. We care a little too much in this country about having implements of death at our disposal. Just in case. That is a bad thing in my opinion.
