The tip jar for this diary will be my 6000th comment on the site. Don’t Frist me, dude!
Suffice it to say I’ve been here for a while, and it has changed my paradigm in a significant way.
If you care to, join me below the no longer fold, formerly known as squiggly omni-lepticon, not a spaghetti monster resembling break.
I pondered the significance of DailyKos to me. I was pretty staggered to realize I am here every single day. I’m not exaggerating. It is the only site for which that is the case. The other sites I have bookmarked have largely been introduced to me via DailyKos. Which makes it ironic that I found this site in late 2005 via Alan Colmes ‘Blogs I Read’ page on foxnews.com.
So while it might not mean much to most of those that would read this, and will mean nothing to those that think I am a DLC, Third Way shill, I am extremely disappointed with the direction this site has taken. Folks that I may not have bonded with, but always respected, are now completely off their fucking nut. How does this kind of thing happen? How did George Takei become a Threat to the World®?
My opinion: Viewership. When it is more important that you are noticed than that you are fundamentally integral to a community, then you lose credibility. Certainly, any idea of community moderation has been left behind on the new iteration of this site. There are just too many users to not allow for accountability.
I offer my opinion because I have been a Trusted User™ from the beginning. I offer my opinion as a subscriber, as a contributor to our DK-endorsed candidates, to ActBlue, to The Inoculation Project. I offer my opinion as a true blue Democrat, big D.
STOP.
All of you, just stop.
Baghdad just fell. North Carolina legislators don’t understand that bigotry is not okay. Kansas (and many other states) are destroying themselves under the weight of republican stupidity. And in response, you recommend a troll diary claiming Hillary Clinton and George Takei are threats to the world?
WTF?
I offer only this: GOOSFRABA.
Take a step back. Perspective.
Peace Out, Monkey
