The 2016 Florida Democratic Primary will officially be March 15, 2016. However, as any citizen of Duval County can do, I have registered for an ‘absentee’ or mail-in ballot. I received mine today, and I’ve voted for Hillary Clinton.
I’ve also seen enough of Bernie Sanders to know that if he does win the nomination, I’ll be happy to vote for him.
Why Hillary? Qualifications. It would be hard for me to accept a case that Barbara Bush is suitable presidential material just because she was in the White House, but it seems an entirely different thing when talking about Hillary. In Arkansas, in the White House, in the Senate, as Secretary of State, she has always been part of the debate, part of the progress we have made.
Why Bernie? Awesomeness. I feel the same about him as I do Al Franken or Russ Feingold. A genuine person that has a very intelligent view of the world. Add Sheldon Whitehouse, Elizabeth Warren, and probably a couple of others, and we have a true progressive caucus in the Senate. Oh, and when did Bernie become a Democrat, anyway? The Senate directory still shows him as (I-VT). Not that I care much, it is just a weird point to me. I suppose that is the revolution part I’m not getting.
Why not O’Malley? What is he doing on my ballot? I guess they were printed a while ago.
