Pretty cool news from the good people at the Center for Biological Diversity. A second US jaguar has has been sighted in the Huachuca Mountains, southeast of Tucson, Arizona. The picture above was recorded by a Boy Scout trail cam last Wednesday evening. Apparently, the Border Patrol has said that the jaguar has been recorded by some of their equipment as well. This is the first confirmed sighting of a jaguar in the Huachuca Mountains, even historically. This jaguar, a young male, is the second confirmed to be currently living in the United States. The other, “El Jefe”, has been roaming the nearby Santa Rita Mountains since 2011.
No word yet on whether our President-elect will push for a series of traps and make the jaguars pay for them.
