There is now literally nothing we can do about the votes that happened yesterday. What we can do something about is the next set of votes.
The Republicans made the House of Representatives a non-representative body by carefully picking out districts to target in the statewide elections in the years leading up to the 2010 redistricting. We have two cycles before the 2020 elections that will determine the redistricting that happens in the wake of the 2020 census. I fully expect a wave that year for us after four years of Trump, but to take advantage of it, we need to start putting our people in the state houses and state senates NOW to prevent Republican gerrymandering.
Let’s figure out which states are most likely to flip and figure out how to flip them now. I live in Illinois where we’re sending back 11 Democrats and 7 Republicans in a state that went 55/39 for Clinton, slightly overperforming the presidential results. How about your state? Where is the most hay to be made.
Whoever takes over the DNC, this has to be the #1 goal.
