I have come to the conclusion that Comey’s motivation for his letter was that he realized he couldn’t continue to work as FBI Director with Hillary Rodham Clinton as his supervisor. He understood this and knows he would be leaving. And how does he want to leave, as GOP hero or GOP scapegoat? This morning’s Politico Poll, www.politico.com/… , all done after Comey’s announcement, shows minimal change in top race, but look at question on down ticket races:
Forty-five percent of voters say they agree with Trump’s claim that Clinton's email scandal is worse than Watergate. And asked to compare the two scandals, voters view Clinton's email issues and Trump's sexually aggressive comments about women as equally bad.
The race for Congress appears to be very tight. When voters were asked if they would vote for a Republican or Democrat for Congress, 44 percent said they'd vote for the Democrat and 43 percent said they would vote for the Republican -- a big gain for the GOP.
Comey, instead of being the GOP goat if he waited until after election to announce the additional emails, could now be the GOP hero who saved Congess.
