Here's the thing.
I don’t have to tell Trump voters not to read this, because Trump voters aren’t likely to be on DK anyway.
If you're not voting for Trump, don't throw your vote in the trash by voting for someone other than Clinton. Seriously. Just don't.
Making a "protest vote," or voting for some minor party candidate to "send a message," or casting a vote for someone who doesn't have a chance in hell of winning because you don't like Clinton -- none of that is sane. It's stupid and it's dangerous and it's nothing more than self-indulgent idiocy. You're not being principled. You're just masturbating in public. You're making yourself feel good and humiliating yourself at the same time..
Even worse is staying home. We need you. America needs you. Your children need you. If you don't have kids, then my kids need you. The world needs you. People in Africa need you. We have to take back the Senate, and make inroads into the House. If you're staying home, you might as well kill yourself right now.
We can't afford to screw this up. We can't take even the remotest chance of letting a fascist misogynist racist idiot into the White House. Don't stay home, don't vote for someone who is just taking votes away from the one person who can stop Trump.
Even if you live in a "safe" state that you know is going to go to Clinton--we have to crush the right wing. Every vote that Clinton doesn't get--even if she wins--is a vote the fascist propagandists (and the media) will use to claim the new president has no real authority because even the voters didn't like her. We have to overwhelm the hateful and hate-filled regressive forces of destruction.
Hillary is not the lesser of evils. She is a strong, honest, principled, and dedicated progressive. Yeah I know there is an industrial machine that's been feeding attacks and lies about her for more than a quarter of a century. If you're not enthusiastically on board, you probably believe some of the dishonest trash that's been thrown her way. Okay, fine. Believe what you want. It's too late now for anyone to convince you otherwise.
But take the longer view. We won't get a second chance. This is a turning point. This is one of those moments in history when the decision really is black and white. Even if you think Clinton is, at best, a small step above Trump, a step is a step. If we allow the nation to move in the wrong direction, there's a cliff there the whole damn world will fall over.
This is a precipice, this is the place where the world changes. You have it in your power to move us in the right direction--or to help a nightmare of Lovecraftian madness descend upon us all.
You. You personally.
Yes, I'm talking to you.
If you throw away your vote, or don't vote at all, then for the sake of your ego (and it's no more than that--stop pretending otherwise) you're risking the worst decision in American history since the Civil War. Since America is so important to the world, that means the worst moment for the planet since--well damn, it's hard to find something comparable. Really.
We have to win this one, and we have to win it big. Failure is not an option.
