I would not normally consider a Minnesota poll to be of high importance at the moment. However, given that a Minnesota “poll” conducted by a guy making calls from the phone book in his basement made the Rec list a few days ago, I thought it was only fair to post this from the Star Tribune.
Clinton holds a commanding 34-point lead over rival Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, but the statewide poll of 800 registered voters shows that the former secretary of state could face trouble against two top Republicans. In head-to-head matchups, Clinton is essentially tied with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and trails Rubio, the Florida U.S. senator. Clinton tops Donald Trump by 5 percentage points.
Minnesota has been generally assumed to be a prime target for Sanders, particularly of the Super Tuesday states, so this result is interesting.
Update:
Another page lists the actual result: Clinton 59 - Sanders 25.
There is also some methodology info on that page.
The Star Tribune Minnesota Poll surveyed 800 Minnesota registered voters Jan. 18-20, 2016. Respondents were reached on both landlines (70 percent) and cell phones (30 percent). The poll has a margin of sampling error of 3.5 percentage points, plus or minus.
