Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who is refusing to obey the rulings of a federal judge who ordered her to follow the Constitution, is reportedly upset that Americans are unhappy with her.
Davis said she's been "called Hitler, I’ve been called [a] hypocrite, I’ve been called a homophobe."
"I’ve been called things and names that I didn’t even say when I was in the world. Those names don’t hurt me," Davis said. "What probably hurt me the worst is when someone tells me that my God does not love me or that my God is not happy with me, that I am a hypocrite of a Christian."
While the comparison to Hitler is inappropriate (she has yet to order the deaths of the people she hates), the other criticisms are hard to disagree with. As
various right wingers have been telling us for years, name-calling is to be brushed off, and isn’t anything of concern to grown-ups. So we can add “wussy” to Ms. Davis’ titles.
A religious bigot hypocritical homophobic non-Christian who is violating the Constitution, federal law, and the rights of fellow citizens, and who is clearly hated by a loving God, has no excuse for being offended at mere words. I’m sure conservatives will agree.
Mon Sep 21, 2015 at 8:20 PM PT: Originally, I inaccurately accused Ms. Davis of being a "Kansas" county clerk. A kind reader pointed out my error. I apologize for that unintentional slight.
