Enough is enough! I see that the tacky, state focused bigotry did not end after the primaries. It's still alive and well on a site that is supposedly promoting more progressive candidates and policies. Way to go Dkos state haters! Last I checked, bigotry is NOT, I repeat, NOT a progressive ideal!
This morning, Egberto Willies posted a diary entitled Bill Maher to Texans: 'You are the White Somalia'.
As if they received a special alert on their bigot phones, the bashers came out and acted accordingly – like a bunch of little school yard bullies.
Here are some gems:
[new] If he was in Texas (5+ / 0-)
he'd be the smartest person in the state apparently. Or at least the non-craziest person.

Mexico is too smart to want it back. (4+ / 0-)
You think they want to deal with those assholes? They have enough problems of their own right now.
I'm fed up with your complaints; Baby, well, I'm not a saint. Fed up with the rain, the plain, that makes me throw up again. I'm fed up with all cynics, bathing caps, and all critics. I'm fed up with being fed up. Poor me! -Alizée

Hasn't Mexico suffered enough? (3+ / 0-)
After all the efforts Mexico has been making to improve the lives of its people, you want to do THAT to them?
May our Lady of Guadeloupe forgive you.

And then, someone actually had the balls to admit their reasoning behind their bigotry (emphasis mine):
Fair enough... (1+ / 0-)
I admit I was only thinking of ways to enrage Texans... Now that I consider the damage such a "gift" would do to foreign relations I realize the error of my idea!

Well, Gertie, it fucking worked! I'm enraged!
So I challenge you, and your fellow haters: Put Up or Shut up! Put your money where your mouth is and donate to Battleground Texas and remember that we're all in this together, or you and your ilk will continue to be seen as nothing but a bunch of bullies who are not here to promote progressive ideals.
Like I said earlier: Last I checked, bigotry is NOT, I repeat, NOT a progressive ideal!
What Progressive Texans, and a slew of other states who get more than our fair share of Dkos hate, is more of this (and help changing it):
As for voting age population (34+ / 0-)
Texas had the lowest turnout of any state in 2014. We were 2nd in 2012.
Until we fix this problem, and help get people registered and voting, the govt here is not going to change.
Only 23.8% voted.
Only 14% of our voting age population voted for Abbott.
Many Texans without a driver’s license don’t have easy access to a Department of Public Safety office to get a state-issued voter ID card. That’s because there are no DPS driver’s license offices in 81 Texas counties and 34 additional counties have severely restricted access because of part-time office hours.
That's 32%, roughly one third of our 254 counties, in which there is no way to register to vote.
The same can be said for those low income neighborhoods in the big cities that have no DPS driver’s license offices. Folks without a driver’s license would have to hitch a ride or find a bus to get to the other side of the city where they probably would have to wait in line at a DPS office. But, they probably would have to take time from work because those DPS offices are only open from 8-5 on weekdays.
To top that off, we have a disproportionately high level of minorities living in poverty. The state offers no mobile DPS offices to help with these problems. We have had an ongoing challenge with low voter rates for Latinos and for women overall, and Voter ID has made this problem significantly worse.
Until the Democratic Party puts up the money to help solve this problem, we will not be able to win statewide elections in this state.

And help to fight the sort of voter suppression pointed out in this response:
Here's another mind-blowing aspect to this: (8+ / 0-)
After looking at all the documentation ducks one needs to have in a row just to get one of these...

Lastly, tom 47 sums it up beautifully here:
But please, the rest of y'all from outside the state (not you, indie17), just keep chuckin' rocks. It's so helpful to try to dodge while simultaneously working to improve things.

We need help, not ridicule and hate. We need encouragement not rocks thrown at us. We need a united front, not pushback from our own team.
Donate to Battleground Texas, and other states' grassroots orgs, because we already know the DNC doesn't give a rat's ass about us. (WARNING: If you donate to Act Blue – be prepared for them to either sell or give away your email address so you can be buried in spam begging for money from all over the country.)
I encourage people from other Dkos Hated and Bashed States like Arizona, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Florida, Louisiana, etc. to post links to your home state's grassroots site and as best I can, I'll add them to the diary provided I'm not burned at the stake for pointing out the truth first.
Unfortunately, I had to contact Battleground Texas and ask them to secure their donation page. I have not heard back from them yet. Please hold off on donating until that is fixed. Even though you haters pissed me off, I would never want your information compromised!
