Today, the United Kingdom goes to the polls to elect a new Parliament. Polls closed at 5 PM ET, but different seats will report at different times. The first results are expected between 6-7 PM ET, with more seats coming in 7-10 PM, with a deluge of seats coming in starting around 10 PM. Unlike in the U.S. where individual precincts report, the results of the entire constituency come in at once. You can find a comprehensive list of UK election resources

Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:22 PM PT (dwb115): So the night started with a shocking exit poll that showed the Conservatives (316 seats predicted) over-performing at the expense of Labour (239 seats) and the Liberal Democrats (10 seats). If anything, the exit poll has underestimated the performance of the Conservatives and party insiders for all three parties have come around to admitting the exit poll is largely on target.
In Scotland the SNP is predicted to win all but one of 59 seats and so far they have won every Scottish seat declared. The question now is will any non-SNP Scottish MP survive.
Labour has taken hardly any seats off the Conservatives in early going while the Conservatives have won a seat from the Lib Dems that was low on their target list, so expect many more to come. Labour has also won a seat from the Lib Dems and expect more gains as well. UKIP has put in numerous strong showings but has yet to get close to winning a seat.
The Conservatives will almost certainly win more than 300 seats and David Cameron will likely remain Prime Minister, but it's an open question whether his party will get to the 323 seats needed to govern with a majority.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:35 PM PT (dwb115): Labour gains Redcar and Cardiff Central from the Liberal Democrats. It's also been reported that Eastleigh has been gained by the Conservatives from the Lib Dems, which was not a top target. Every Liberal Democrat seat is now in question until it's announced.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:40 PM PT (dwb115): The results are coming in fast and furious now. Ed Davey and Simon Hughes, both senior Lib Dems, have lost according to reports, Davey's Kingston seat to the Tories and Hughes' Bermondsey (London-based) seat to Labour.
Tories have also won Chippenham from the Lib Dems, as expected.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:43 PM PT (dwb115): Labour gains Brent Central from the Lib Dems and defeats former Labour-turned-Respect MP George Galloway in Bradford West. Galloway is generally awful, so it's probably the best news of the night for Labour.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:45 PM PT (dwb115): Scotland still has a splash of orange at its far north. The Lib Dems hold onto Orkney and Shetland, islands off the north coast of Scotland. The party has held this seat since the 1950s and may end up being the only non-SNP seat left in Scotland.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:47 PM PT (dwb115):
Orkney & Shetland is to the Lib Dems what #tn01 is to the GOP. Always theirs for generations in good times and bad #GE2015

Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:55 PM PT (dwb115):
Conservatives had won this by 11% in 2010, so a rare big swing to Labour.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 8:01 PM PT: We'll want to watch out for this one
Blimey: Lib Dem sources admit @nick_clegg vote "close" in Sheffield Hallam. They think he will just do it #GE2015

If Lib Dem leader Clegg goes down, silver lining for Labour on bad night.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 8:04 PM PT: Tories hold Hastings & Rye, another seat Labour needed to win.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 8:07 PM PT: It's a similar story in Erewash, where the Tories hold onto a seat Labour wanted.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 8:12 PM PT: Senior Lib Dem Simon Hughes loses to Labour in a contest he was expected to hold out in. This night has just been brutal for them.
