So many Kossacks have been following the saga of Joan and Isis over the past few months and I knew you all would want to know of the most recent development.
The previous diaries I've written are here here here and here
Roughly six weeks ago Isis was rehomed with wonderful Edie, and Isis is settling in beautifully. Edie has brought Isis to visit Joan and finding such a loving home for her kitty was of utmost importance to her. Mission accomplished Joan, with help from Dorian and Leslie.
Beyond the wonderful Christmas celebrations, pizza party with musical entertainment, with all of the patients being involved, there have been Valentine parties and Joan got to go outside and bask in the sun and fresh air.
She began exhibiting confusion a few weeks ago and last week was taken to the hospital. In an aside, what we thought was a Hospice facility was actually for assisted living.
During visits over the last week, with Easter treats being provided, Joan has either been confused or asleep.
Today Dorian and Leslie were told that Joan will not return to the other facility and will remain in the hospital until her journey is completed. She will not be alone at that time.
There have been many tears shed among the 1216 members of her FB group, folks from all over the world who have sent cards, gifts, good wishes, photos and even an Isis toy kitty. Dorian and Leslie have taken her favorite things to the hospital so that she is surrounded by them. She is much loved by us all... all she cared about was finding her little black cat a good home before she died.
I'm happy that this wonderful woman has had this love at the end of her life and can die at peace. I will keep you posted.
