"A Riot is The Language of the UnHeard"
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Mayhem and madness is ruling Baltimore City. So, what the fuck will we do? I have quite a few rants to get off my chest so let's get started.
1) The Credible Threat
I am not a fan of conspiracy theories. However, I also am not a fan of the Baltimore City, County and PG County police departments.
I think this "threat" was born in the Fraternal Order Of Police to bolster support for the police department ahead on any new allegations or information released this week.
2) IF they thought this was a real threat, why were schools open today? There is a school directly across the street from Mondawmin Mall - where all the chaos started.
3) Mondawmin is also a center for Mass Transportation. Buses from all parts of the city converge there. It is also a Metro stop.
4) The Mayor - a complete failure of leadership.
Dear Madame Mayor:
You could have shut this down by closing schools, and putting a strict curfew in place. It is now 7:07pm and NO ONE has heard from the mayor. Not a peep.
I saw Senator Catherine Pugh and commissioner Bates at ground zero at Mondawmin Mall.
Where are all the other "leaders" who attended the funeral?
Senator Pugh had a great question. Parents, WHERE are your children? I saw many young people, still in their school uniforms. Why are they not at home? Their lives are in danger when they involve themselves in mob mentality.
This is what happens when time and time again police escape unscathed when they have brutalized a citizen. I am not talking about killing, just brutalizing. I have seen them kick someone's ass, NOT arrest them and just walk away. Because they CAN.
It is time for this mob of blue to be reigned in. I do not condone violence, and I sure as hell don't condone destroying property. Setting the CVS on fire that your grandmother uses to fill her prescription is just total stupidity. JUST stupid!
We have many religious leaders meeting as I type to try to bring some calm to this situation. While I am not a church person, New Shiloh Baptist church, where the funeral for Freddie Gray was held, prays for the city of Baltimore every day. Every day between 6:30am and 7am. I thank God for their prayers. All our Leaders need to pull together and do MORE!
Baltimore is better than this. I have been checking on my loved ones in the area. It is also quite endearing that my children have called to check on me. My neighbor said her's had called to check on her.
When you get to Pennsylvania and North Avenue, you have entered the lion's den. It is drug central for the city, so the criminal element is rampant. Just the spot to set it off.
New Flash - the still invisible mayor has requested the governor to activate the National Guard. Great work, madame mayor.
A call has been put out to the men of Baltimore to meet at New Shiloh to get this shit under control.
Be back soon... Pray for peace and no more blood. I too, am in prayer.
Thanks for reading.
