Greetings and welcome to another of my little open thread diaries for the Street Prophets group.
I've been kind of busy this week.
When last I wrote, I was getting ready for Easter up in the foothills of some mountains in the northern Czech Republic. I just have a few photos to share from last weekend.
And what better way to start than with a cat, basking in the morning sun, in front of an old barn:
Another five photos of dubious quality below.
How's that for a Spring spread? You've got a bowl of chocolate eggs, an alarm clock, a lamb-shaped cake, a planter full of wheat grass, and a bowl of decorated Easter eggs. That was the first time in, in, in as long as I can remember that we actually managed to get one of those cake lambs out of the ceramic mold in one piece.
There was also a full moon last weekend and I made several attempts to take photos of it through the branches of the plum and apple trees in the yard:
I tried a number of photos in low light situations:
Mrs. the Werelynx and I did manage to take a short drive to the top of the tallest hill in the area in search of some snow and managed to find enough for a short excursion on our Nordic skis. I managed to flail wildly down an exceedingly gentle slope and stopped rather abruptly in a rocky patch of cold mud. I lack any resemblance of grace while skiing cross country. I'm still trying to figure out who thought it'd be a great idea to make the skis narrower than the boots you wear. At any rate, after I'd had enough of my downhill debacles, I soon abandoned the skis in favor of foots to explore what was left of the foundation of a barn and one or two odd hunks of rusty metal:
I managed to ski back to the car. Uphill is fine; it's just downhill that I have no sense of control on those sticks. Not much chance to practice the last couple of years. There was hardly any snow again this year.
In the valleys, the April flowers were blooming. The last scraggly remains of a once prosperous bed of daffodils (narcissus) were putting on a brave show as a bit of icy snow fell:
The snow wasn't enough to even cover the grass and was gone in a few hours.
Once back in the big city I was busy with a couple graphic design projects, an English lesson and a drawing lesson, planted some peppers, attended parent/teacher conferences and the mandatory after-beer, a trip to the airport to pick up my not-so-evil-step-mother and an afternoon spent with the family... and today, well, today I spent my morning from 6 to high noon helping my mother-in-law get around town getting her errands and appointments filled. This week I've done more driving than I usually do in a month.
Tomorrow night I should be able to step out to a concert of big band jazz.
It has been such a busy week that I didn't even have much time to indulge my curiosity on the internet. My current Goodsearch total is only $11.56, up a few paltry cents since last week.
I also haven't had any time for painting. Maybe tomorrow I'll fumigate the apartment with turpentine and the scent of linseed oil.
Well, that's plenty from me I'm thinking.
