So I'm watching Rachel Maddow last night, and she was busy promulgating the myth of Obama and his twelve-dimensional chess political strategy; this time the myth was being spun about the TPP and Obama's visit to Nike. Obama's big shake up of the so called debate on free trade and the TPP was that, if approved, Nike promised to create 10,000 jobs in the U.S.
Uh-huh.
Do I need to point out that we have heard these promises before about free trade? And here is Mr. 12-D political chess strategist at Nike. Fucking Nike. Even the NY Times gets it that Nike is a poster child for what's wrong with free trade as defined by Washington.
And even that political hack Roger Simon of Politico acknowledges that all the promises from Obama about changing the playing field in Vietnam is stupid. You know something is stupid when Simon points out how dumb it is to claim that a communist country is going to allow unionization. As Simon said, there is a reason that Vietnam's Nike factories pay its workers 56 cents an hour.
But Obama could NEVER be wrong, or politically tone deaf, or just plain stupid. Obama's actions must be part of some grand master plan to defeat his political foes. Nothing like going to Nike's headquarters and insulting Democrats to show your political acumen.
