Except...
...that it isn't really a free education, only 75% will be paid for by the feds. Lots of other ifs, maybes, qualifications, hemming, and hawing.
It's like someone in the Obama administration had a real progressive thought, perhaps inspired by state initiatives, only to get the thing buried in centrist bullshit.
Is it any wonder the Democratic base doesn't want to turn out for elections? This current example is a perfect illustration of what's wrong with the centrist elite in the Democratic Party. Take a great idea, or at least the start of one, then negate it with fine print, hemming, hawing, and generalized Republican behavior.
The Democratic elite, with a few notable exceptions, are what used to be called conservative Republicans. So now we have a ultra-conservative right-wing political party...and opposing it, a more traditional conservative party. No left, just right and far right.
If it weren't against my principles, I'd stop voting, too.
