When just 2 turn up:
“I don’t know why,” said organizer Jason Spitzer, 29, when asked to explain the low turnout for what he described as an Independence Day demonstration to “spread Constitutional awareness” of Americans’ Second Amendment right to bear arms.
“But even if nobody came I’d still walk,” the Chesterfield County steel mill worker said, holding a large American flag in his hands, with a rifle slung over his shoulder and a holstered handgun on his hip. “It’s the Fourth of July and I love my country.”
The bit that made me laugh was they were outnumbered by the media. Perhaps it is time they just ignored this stupidity?
two-man march, which might very well have gone unnoticed were it not outnumbered by two television crews and a photographer in tow.
It may be something to do with this, as one of the comments points out.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love semi-auto rifles as much as anyone, but for open-carry demonstrations, handguns seem less likely to disturb those with more . This issue is really one of public relations, and it’s in our best interest to seem as non-threatening as possible.”
Loving weapons and assuming everyone else does too [apart from those of "delicate sensibilities"] might be part of the problem.
Loving a gun is about as logical as loving a hammer, it's a tool nothing more, it is also a tool designed to kill.
I use a knife to butcher meat, now if I was to walk around the streets open carrying a knife that might upset people?

I was only preparing a rabbit for the pot and wanted to demonstrate my "love" for my knife.
However it is more interesting to wonder why the other 300 didn't turn up.
They have "delicate sensibilities" and are worried by other people carrying guns near them?
Their "good guy with a gun radar" has been a bit off lately, it's so hard to tell?
They are worried that other people my love their guns a little too much?
They were too scared to come out that day, fireworks are scary dontcha know?
They were there but in sniping positions to protect their comrades from the gubbmint?
They were worried bigger guns might be on show?
Here is a little hint.
If you don't want to appear threatening:
Leave your guns at home.
If you don't want to appear to be dumb.
Leave them in the gun safe.
If you don't want to be considered a nut.
Don't talk about loving your gun, some people just find that weird.
