I haven't written for awhile...in fact a long while. Life sorta took me on a roller coaster of fun. I mean it wasn't exactly fun, but we're not talking Mr Toad's wild ride either. In any event despite my lack of ability to write, I still kept up reading dkos like the addict I am to all things community, politics, wonk, etc...
What can I say, you guys are like a quote from a good movie. I might pull away, but you just keep pulling me back in.
In any event, the reason I felt compelled to write was the recent slosh of treatment towards women diaries, and to be fair some of you really stupid men opening your mouth and trying to fit your entire foot in there. Seriously, I don't know how some of you do it, do you add hot sauce first cause last I checked leather doesn't take all that good?
How about your take those size 12's out for a second and join me below
You see, I wrote a very personal diary some years ago when I finally realized it. I still remember the day like it was yesterday when I can to the full realization of how pervasive attitude towards women is. I wrote also how it got personal the day my daughter was born. Feel free to read them again
So Pervasive
It's personal now
I figured that the general public here was all in agreement by now about how pervasive our, and I say our as a general every waking person in the nation, culture is towards its attitude on women. I figured we all here in our little orange corner finally figured out self realization and what we must do to change that.
From the stupid and subtle as that idiotic Monroe poster in that bathroom I wrote about years ago, to the obviously blatant moronic attempts to hijack what was a heart felt, serious attempt at women banding together to share their experiences and to my hope become stronger for it.
There are some times where really we men should just sit down and mind our own business. I mean seriously, you don't know everything and sometimes our attempts to help as men seriously just make it worse.
In any event, I figured we all had our heads on straight by now. I mean I realize it took me till I was almost 30 years to get mine on but I still sorta realized those times when it was a moment to just close my trap.
So I'm sitting here and gonna finish this up while my daughter finishes watching Frozen and is munching on pop corn. Side note on that, kudos on Disney for finally bucking the princess trend with this one and admitting that in the world of relationships there are some manipulative bastards in the world (Prince Hans) and men who might mean well but are pretty damn clueless (Christoph).
I thought it pretty cool when Elsa said the line, "You can't marry someone you just met"
Anyway, I'm digressing and losing track. The point is, seriously guys just take the shoe out of your mouth and the potatoes out of your ears and just listen, be supportive, and know which fights to pick. Because most of the time, if we just listen to them....trust me, they'll tell us where and when they need help....if they even need it at all given how strong women truly are.
