Concerned Veterans (Ha!) For Kochroaches
I, and thousands of other North Carolinians, received this yesterday in the mail. Big...glossy...and, per Open Secrets, from an "organization" created and funded by dark money from the Kochs. This mailer is clearly in support of (R)Thom Tillis running against incumbent (D) Senator Kay Hagan. Veterans should be incensed.
More below the orange squizzle...
For many politicians, the only time veterans affairs become important is when they can blame their opponents for the "failure" of the VA. Otherwise, chances are they haven't given it a second thought...never been in a VA facility...and...mostly...they are not themselves veterans.
Richard Burr (R) Senior Senator from North Carolina has been on the Veterans Affairs committee for a long time. I seem to recall that when the scandal about conditions at Walter Reid VA Hospital was all over the place, he finally managed to crawl out of his recliner and make a visit. Woo hoo.... what an effort!
If anyone deserves a lashing for the failures to properly fund the VA and support veterans, it should be the GOP.
The "organization" mailing this flyer is a fraud. I suspect they will do mailings to other states opposing democratic candidates. Who are these "veterans?" Their website and Facebook pages are a lie. Tillis says he was a Partner at IBM...implying he was an IBM management executive. That's also a lie, or at best an exaggeration. He may have been a "Partner" in an organization (one of thousands) that IBM chose as a business partner, but he is not and never has been an IBM management executive.
Tillis was and is greatly reponsible for NC's rejection of Medicaid funding to provide Health care insurance for the poor. Many of those, and their families, are veterans.
