Like Iraq?
1) Whenever I want to see if the official fix is in for a hidden agenda, I check the New York Times. To what it is saying , to see what major things it is not saying, and to see what it explicitly suppresses and covers up.
2) Today, what is being covered up is that the US government's $5 Billion support for the coup in the Ukraine is a death threat to Russia.
Because almost all of Russia's nuclear defense --her ICBMs -- could be destroyed
without warning by a single coordinated strike with US stealth fighters launched from Ukraine. Once that happened, we could destroy --or hold hostage -- her cities with little fear of retaliation.
3) Our 187 F22s have a one-way range of 1800 miles. Our 100 F35s have a range of 1380 miles. Here are the locations of the Russian ICBMs --plug the coordinates into Google Maps and do the math:

(See Annex C starting on p. 100. Note that the Uzhur and Barnual sites are out of range of Ukraine but in range from Afghanistan. )
4) After the Cuban Missile Crisis, Russian and US leaders agreed to not push each
other into a similar corner. But we are breaking that understanding today. A preemptive First Strike was not feasible during the Cold War and would still not be feasible from NATO territory. But moving 500 miles forward to Ukraine would make it feasible.
Our strategic arms limitation talks have reduced Russia's nuclear inventory to a fraction of what it was in the Cold War -- and made a dangerous "Use it or Lose it" situation far more likely, not less. From the Russian viewpoint, we are trying to break the MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) arrangement that has preserved the peace for 60 years.
5) The NY Times has turned off reader comments for most of her deceptive news articles re Ukraine but she turned them on for her editorial against "Russian Aggression". But when I pointed out the above facts last night, my comment was blocked by the moderator. And was still blocked this morning.
6) US manipulation of Ukrainian politics is not that hidden --see

(fourth paragraph from the bottom)

7) And if you want to see how things work, look at the BBC transcript of a conversation
Vicky Nuland --Asst Secretary of State and wife of neocon Robert Kagan -- had with US Ambassador Geoffry Pratt three weeks ago. In which Vicky was hand-picking the next ruler of Ukraine ("Yats"). Read the tone of the transcript and see if Vicky was making
a tentative suggestion for debate and "democratic" discussion by those protesters
on the Maidan and for consultation with our EU allies.

8) From the Russian viewpoint, what motivation could the US have to intervene in
a bankrupt country 4500 miles from the US? What does value does Ukraine have
for Washington that would justify another $35 billion in aid and the risks that are being
taken --other than as a base from which to dismember Russia and take her natural
resources? An obvious question that the New York Times is carefully avoiding.
9) Why should we care? The opening kickoff to a nuclear escalation is evacuation
of major cities. If Putin merely did that it would not be an act of war but the Pentagon
would be forced to do the same here. 70% of our people are in 484 urbanized areas.
The resulting panic would crash the stock market, throw us into deep recession,
make unemployment soar and cost the Democrats both houses of Congress in
November. And that is looking at the bright side in an optimistic way. This little
soiree could easily segue into far grimmer scenarios. Carl Sagan noted that
a large part of our surviving people would starve to death in a nuclear winter but
the Neocon strategists evidently never got that memo.
10) By the way, did the Times' Judith Miller ever find those nukes of Saddam Hussein's?
The families of 4500 dead soldiers might like to know.
And whatever happened to those fearsome Chechynan Black Widow suicide bombers that the Times was loudly giving us as a reason to boycott the Sochi Olympics?

Although we did move two warships into the Black Sea to "provide security" --just in case:
