1) When I first read of the Fort Lee story, my conclusion was that Christie was most likely lying. That there was no way his aide Bridget Kelly --a 41 year old mother with 4 kids to feed -- was going to do this stunt on her own.
2) But now I am wondering if this is a political assassination cooked up by Republican billionaires to destroy Christie --
in retaliation for Christie giving President Obama public respect during the Hurricane Sandy episode in October 2012 -- and thereby helping Obama get reelected.
Obama's win meant those hundreds of Republican $millions spent to buy the next President (Romney) went to waste. That probably caused incoherent rage in a number of wealthy men.
Plus this little soiree is also destroying the leading Republican alternative to the Tea Party.
3) After all, those billionaires can offer Christie's aides and appointees FAR more money than Christie ever could. So maybe Christie was sandbagged.
In normal circumstances, one would conclude that if Christie is not lying then he is incompetent -- to not know what his subordinates were doing and to have control of their actions.
4) But wealthy men have powers of subversion far beyond the control of mere politicans. Giving someone $10 Million is mere pocket change for billionaires -- and yet would buy a murder in some neighborhoods. Even in New Jersey. Certainly it would make losing a job a mere trifle.
It's strange how so many incriminating --and infuriating -- emails were just left lying around. You would think master political operatives would have been more competent.
And while blocking the George Washington Bridge hurt the people of Fort Lee, I don't see where it really hurt the alleged target -- the Democratic mayor.
5) Hopefully, US Attorney Paul Fishman's investigation can find out what happened. I personally think looking at people's bank accounts would be a good start.
