Monday Night Cancer Club is a Daily Kos group focused on dealing with cancer, primarily for cancer survivors and caregivers, though clinicians, researchers, and others with a special interest are also welcome. Volunteer diarists post Monday evenings between 7-8 PM ET on topics related to living with cancer, which is very broadly defined to include physical, spiritual, emotional and cognitive aspects. Mindful of the controversies endemic to cancer prevention and treatment, we ask that both diarists and commenters keep an open mind regarding strategies for surviving cancer, whether based in traditional, Eastern, Western, allopathic or other medical practices. This is a club no one wants to join, in truth, and compassion will help us make it through the challenge together.
Lately I am troubled by normal life, normal obligations, normal paperwork. I'm trying to transcend my potentially truncated life and premature death here, after all! Important work! But the mundane intrudes. Sometimes I wish I could just get on a plane for Shambala...
The Road to Shambala, Three Dog Night
Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain
With the rain in Shambala
Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame
With the rain in Shambala
Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind
On the road to Shambala
Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind
On the road to Shambala
How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala
I can tell my sister by the flowers in her eyes
On the road to Shambala
I can tell my brother by the flowers in his eyes
On the road to Shambala
How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala
Our dear peregrine kate is camping this weekend, and I volunteered to host an open thread in her stead (I see from the sked that I was supposed to write something about CAM... but I chickened out!). So, the floor is open. I hope we are all treating ourselves with love, and letting our light shine!
