Our sweet pootie, Mia, has joined many other beloved Kossacks' pets on the Rainbow Bridge. Regular readers of the Pootie Diaries and Cheers & Jeers have seen many pictures of her and her kittens over the years, like this one:
You may have seen these all before, but a pictorial tribute to the life of our dear Mia follows below.
We did not know how old she really was, because we first encountered her over 11 years ago when she was hanging out by our archery club. We knew she had been domesticated in the past, because she responded to the sound of a cat food can opening. One evening, she decided (with a boost from my lovely wife) to climb into our car and adopt us. Because she was around the archery club, we had been calling her “Mia Arrow”, but when she adopted us she was quite pregnant, so soon she had another monicker:
She had a litter of five wonderful kittens, three female (of course) calicos, and two male tuxedos. They were indeed a:
That was when I learned from my lovely wife another term for parts of the female anatomy:
She raised her kittens well, and then sent them into the world with a mission:
We found loving forever homes for the two boys and Borghilde, but decided that Addie & Shiner would remain with us. Though our pooties never formed the “cuddle puddles” that mlharges’ did at the vents, Mia would pretty much take one up on her own (it’s there, I swear):
The closest they came to sharing was double-decker, as she is here with her daughter Addie:
Addie was a quick learner, and soon became the primary vent-cat:
Mia also loved hanging out with her daughter Shiner, here in the office:
…or on the “upper deck”:
Kossack khloemi gave credit to the ear-worms my mentions of “Mama Mia” gave her as inspiration for her “WPPR/Tunesday” Pootie Diaries, and used this as the title picture in her very first one:
Mia never became much of a lap cat (unlike her kittens, especially Shiner), but she would occasionally make an exception:
I hope you all have enjoyed seeing her pictures here over the years, and will join our family in celebrating the life we had together.
