In a very conservative district of Oklahoma, with 20 of 30 precincts reporting, Democrat Curtis McDaniel leads Republican Joe Silk 61.7% to 27.7%.
This would be a Democratic pick-up in a very, very conservative district, Oklahoma's 1st State House District. I'll be providing updates as the count comes in.
For local coverage of special elections in OK, see here.
Special primary elections will be held for Senate District 20, which includes parts of four counties in north-central Oklahoma, and for House District 71 in Tulsa. Special general elections will be held in Senate District 46 in central Oklahoma City and House District 1 in McCurtain County in far southeast Oklahoma.
...
The final legislative race is the general election for House District 1 in far southeast Oklahoma, which was left vacant following last year's death of freshman Republican Rep. Rusty Farley, R-Haworth. Farley was the first Republican ever to hold the seat, which is in a traditional Democratic stronghold known as Little Dixie. The race features Republican Joe Silk of Broken Bow, Democrat Curtis McDaniel of Smithville, and two independents James Skipper of Smithville and Bethany Farley of Idabel. Farley is Rusty Farley's daughter. If she or Skipper wins the election, they would be the only registered independent in the House or Senate.
Could this be indicative of Democratic chances of retaking seats across the South in ancestrally Democratic, Blue Dog areas where we suffered severe losses last year?
6:39 PM PT: I should also note that in the special election to replace state senator Andrew Rice, Democrat Al McAffrey is winning with about 2/3 of the vote, with 19/22 precincts in. He has been the first openly gay member of the Oklahoma state legislature.
6:41 PM PT: With 21 of 30 precincts in, McDaniel leads 62.1% to 27.2%
6:44 PM PT: With 22 of 30 precincts reporting, McDaniels continues to build up his lead. He leads 62.4% to 27%.
6:47 PM PT:
I came across this very pleasing visual.
7:04 PM PT: No updates... who knew they went on ganja breaks in Oklahoma?
7:06 PM PT: Haha, and right after that we get two more precincts. WIth 24 of 30 reporting, we have 62.2% for McDaniels and 27.4% for SIlk.
7:12 PM PT: Also, I had no idea this was going on, but apparently a Democrat in Maine may also take a state senate seat from the Republicans. See here.

As of 9:50 p.m., with 13 of 21 towns reporting, Johnson enjoys a 483-vote lead, 2012-1529. Results are still pending in Waldoboro, District 20's most populous town."
