We (the US) let Texas go. But there are a few conditions:
1. They pay us what they owe us. That's right. We (the 49 United States) have spent much, much more money on Texas than they have returned in value to the Union. Just consider all those highways, road, bridges, federal prisons, and such that we have bought for them. They'll owe it all back to us. They can't just leave without paying. That oughta be about $500 Billion right there!
2. Sports stadiums (or is it stadia?). Sure you could say that Houston paid to build theirs and Dallas paid for theirs and Arlington paid for theirs, etc., BUT everytime they needed something else, they asked for the feds (that's all the rest of us) to pay for it. Don't be mistaken, you and I paid for their ballparks. Sorry, I want my money back for Enron Field - uh, Minute Maid Park. Total should be at least $20 Billion.
3. I want $1000.00 for each and every soldier killed in the defense of this country from the time Texas joined the union. We'll call it, the Texas share of the sacrifice these men meant to the country as a whole. I know, we can't really put a dollar amount on the value of the brave men and women who have defended the US (and Texas), but we can't simply let Texas go without owning up to the fact that their asses have been defended by the union as a whole. And as for the Texas servicemen who sacrificed? That was when they were Americans, not Tex-asses. At least a few billion dollars here.
I hear that Texans brag that don't pay a state income tax. Ha. See how fast that changes!
4. We're gonna build a fence. That's right. I don't want any of those free-loaders south of the border, that is the NEW border, just driving into Louisinana, Arkasas, OK, or NM to steal jobs away from real tax-paying Americans. I also don't want their sports teams competing with those in the land of the free. As far as I'm concerned, the Astros can play the Rangers 162 games next year. Let the Longhorns play TCU, A&M, etc. all season. I don't want to see any of those turn-coats playing against real American teams, like the Sooners.
5. No more NAFTA. I want to tax everything that we import from TX to encourage Americans to buy American. America should not be owned by foreigners like the Chinese, Germans, and Texans.
This is just a partial list off the top of my head. What have I left out?
