Murdoch Empire starts to implode
Rupert Murdoch's News Corp is at the center of a firestorm that has sparked investigations in Britain and Washington.
Self inflicted wounds are the most fun to watch.
But the journalists at the News of the World then encountered a problem. Milly’s voicemail box filled up and would accept no more messages. Apparently thirsty for more information from more voicemails, the paper intervened - and deleted the messages that had been left in the first few days after her disappearance. According to one source, this had a devastating effect: when her friends and family called again and discovered that her voicemail had been cleared, they concluded that this must have been done by Milly herself and, therefore, that she must still be alive. But she was not. The interference created false hope and extra agony for those who were misled by it.
Ya gotta love it when these inbred, right-wing-nuts start going cannibal:
A biographer of Murdoch, Michael Wolff, claimed that the tycoon's daughter, Elisabeth, had said her brother James had "fucked the company".
Wolff suggested the world was witnessing the end of the Murdochs' dynastic ambitions. "The Murdochs will be moved out of this company. James will go into some form of exile and Rupert will be put out to pasture and an outsider not named Murdoch will be put in charge."
Maybe there is justice after all? Do I dare imagine a world without (or with far less of) Murdoch media?
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now looking into allegations that reporters with the now-defunct News of the World attempted to hack phones of people who were killed during the terror attacks.
Do people in Murdoch's organization
really need to be told that deleting a dead girls phone messages or hacking into 9/11 victims voice mail is unethical and illegal? Looks like standard right-wing operating procedure: "rules are for everyone else, if I don't get caught it's not illegal."
And the hits keep on coming…
Rebekah Brooks arrested over phone-hacking scandal
THE former head of Rupert Murdoch’s British newspaper wing, Rebekah Brooks, was last night arrested by police as part of their investigation into the phone-hacking firestorm gripping Britain.
