The republicans and the companies that back them are not conservative. They are plutocrats. Full stop.
Here is a modest proposal from me to my fellow travelers in the progressive community: Stop calling Republicans conservatives.
I know, I know, they are more often than not wanting to keep things the way they are, and that is by definition a "conservative" But, they are perfectly willing to change the laws to suit their rich friends who give them lots of corporate cash in exchange for concessions, tax breaks and loopholes for them to make more money. They are perfectly willing to change everything that makes this country great in order for their rich friends to get richer, so they in turn can rule over us.
That, my friends, is not a conservative. That is a plutocrat. These Republicans aren't interested in you or what you want. They only want more power, and they are willing to throw away everything that has worked in this country in order to get it.
Don't believe me? Look at the numbers. In 2010, of the top ten organizations that spent money on campaigns, seven of them are of a plutocratic bent. Three are union groups.
Do the math. What is happening in Wisconsin is only the beginning. That is why it is important that we ALL stand together behind the Wisconsin 14 and make sure that they stay away until they get what they want.
