Update: Part 2 of this video is now up. Click here to watch the next episode: TaxCutMania - Obama vs. the Tea Party, pt 2.
Part 1
I decided to try my hand at making the little robo animation below to debunk some of the hysterical DeficitMania we have been hearing from the Tea-Publicans lately about how we must immediately have massive spending cuts, no matter how many jobs it would cost. They never really explain why it is such an emergency to cut spending all of a sudden, especially given the weak state of the economic recovery, which is very likely to stall if they start gutting the budget. They also cannot explain why they had no problem with massive spending by Reagan-Bush-Bush, or why they continue to support massive deficit SPENDING, as long as the spending is disguised as a tax cut (mostly for the rich). I guess their main problem, other than being brainwashed tools, is that they just cannot stand to have the government spend money when it benefits middle-income and low-income Americans, instead of wealthy elites. But, the generic rhetoric they use to justify this is that they want a "small government."
So, my video shows a short debate between Obama and a dude dressed up as a tea partier. I think it summarizes much of the so-called discourse between Liberals and Conservatives over the past 30 years in just a couple of minutes. Please also take the poll and let me know if you have any comments...unless you do not like this diary. In that case, send your criticism to Michael Steele...wherever he is. Now there is a guy who really knows how to ignore criticism...from anybody...about anything.
By the way, if you have not watched these types of videos before, I know it is hard for some people to get used to listening to the robotic voices. But, in some ways, the monotone delivery adds to the humor. I also tried to keep the language fairly clean. If you look at other animations like this, you will see that many people try to make them funny by making the characters trash talk each other in some pretty "colorful" terms. But, I kept this one reasonably tame for all you good kos-kids out there...there is a little bit of throw down at the end...but, nothing you do not hear on most radio and tv programs nowadays.
