Late nights - when all is quiet in the Dingo family household.
The perfect time to spend some (quality) time looking through Red State, Free Republic, and (yes, even) Little Green Footballs. Trying in vain not to laugh out loud and wake the family, or doing so would result in my ultimate banishment to the mancave, and the extremely ancient hide a bed that awaits therein.
Bouncing about looking at all of the lunacy being exhibited by those folks on the other side of the aisle, I came across this little gem - something about...
The health bill is "dead on arrival" in Congress
Excuse me? You did what to who's woozle for how many cookies?
According to Michael O'Brien over at the Hill's Blog Briefing Room, Rep. Joe Barton (R - South Wingnuttia) has stated that the health care bille will be essentially "DOA when it arrives on the floor for a vote.
Being interviewed by the "fair and balanced" news team over at Fux Noise, Rep. Barton stated his position quite clearly -
"If they somehow manage to get the votes and get enough Democrats to walk the plank and commit suicide, in the next Congress, I'll be chairman Joe Barton of the Energy and Commerce committee, and we'll repeal it," Barton said.
Barton, of course, after having delusions of grandeur, continued to spout the party talking points by reasoning that the GOP always does better in the midterm elections (2010). As a result of the devastating defeat about the Democrats, Barton gloated,
"Take the current bill and just tweak the public option and call it a 'deal' -- you put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," he said of the potential changes that could be made to win lawmakers' votes. "I think this bill's dead on arrival."
Of course, the Freepers never miss an opportunity to take a swipe at "liberal America"...
By saying they will repeal Obamacare in 2010 or 2012, the Republicans are signaling that they have no stomach to kill this thing NOW. I don't want to wait until 2010 or 2012, I want this thing deader than sardines. Plus you got Enzi still making statements about bipartisanship. The Pubbies are going to cave, you can bank on it. What?!? You won't kill the Health Care Bill?!? Is this even the same Free Republic that I've been laughing at for years on end??
From in the dumpster to veto-proof majorities in both houses in one grand leap? Not even the current crop of idiot liberals can make mistakes so grand. In fact, if Obama can go behind closed doors with 218 reliable representatives, 50 reliable senators, and "good old Joe" Biden, he may emerge with another 1000 pages of indecipherable ultra-progressive legislation "passed, signed, sealed, and the law of the land forever," because it will change our entire government irretrievably. I worry. Monday, August 31, 2009 11:20:58 PM by JohnQ1
Do I sense...acquiescence? Acceptance of what is to come, maybe??
Sounds like the fox promising not to kill any more chickens if you just let him into the chicken coop this one time... Monday, August 31, 2009 11:01:45 PM by bigbob
So...how does it feel to be a chicken with no way out. :)
