I came home from work yesterday to find a small striped gray tabby
cat huddled shivering under my neighbors car.
There are a few feral cats in my area and I thought this was just another one. Being a big hearted animal lover, I called to it as I always do when I see a cat around my apartment building, if for no other reason than to give them a scratch and rub and express my love for these beautiful animals.
Surprisingly it ran right up to me with a surprising "Meow", rubbing my leg and acting as if it had been waiting for me all day long.
It was very cold outside, and this poor fellow looked like he had been out in the cold for a few days at least, being a little dirty and perhaps a little skinny.
I reached down and petted him, which he liked a lot, meowing his approval and rubbing his head against me.
I figured what the heck, I'll bring him inside and feed him a meal and let the poor little guy warm up for awhile if nothing else.
Perhaps I could help return this poor lost guy to his owner.
Once inside he devoured a can of Albacore tuna in nothing flat and then proceeded to waltz around my apartment as if he was inspecting his new palace. Being a big supporter of a couple of animal shelters gave me insight enought to know who to call. So I called the local shelter and listed him as a found cat, as of today there is no missing cat listings for a cat fitting his description.
After eating himself silly he gladly made himself at home on my couch
very happy it seems to be warm, fed and indoors.
I found out he is male, declawed, affectionate and well mannered.
I had to go purchase both food and a litter box, which he liked and used quite readily, all in all he is a very adorable and sweet cat.
He was a bit tired yesterday, spending the evening lounging on a blanket I set up for him.
It was just a quiet night with a fellow well mannered soul that needed
to come in from the cold for a little while at least.
Everything in how he acts and looks just radiates that he is a wonderful cat, I have trouble believing he could be a stray, unwanted by his owner.
The amazing thing about this cute little fellow is his stripes meld into a perfect O on his sides, I didn't notice that until this morning.
When I saw it as he was stretching out on the carpet in the morning sun..
And I thought, Awesome cool! He is an Obama cat!
Little did I know that the poor little fellow I rescued from the cold
yesterday was this cool!
Regardless of that, I do have a responsability to return him to
his owner, and I will eagerly do so, if they show up. With an admonishment from me of "How could you let this precious cool cat be out on the streets? Please be more careful!".
The best part of this story is Obama cat will have a loving home either way, because if his owner does not claim him within 30 days, then I become the owner and he will have a home here with me forever.
Taking care of the downtrodden, poor, sick and the animals of this planet.. well that's just the way we roll here on KOS.
Finding out you have Obama cat as a houseguest.... PRICELESS!!!
Cheers...
Pauly
UPDATE
For everyone that wished Obama Cat and me well... thank you.
He is doing VERY well, enjoying being king of the castle and having his new personal assistant (me) buy him toys, and cater to his practically every whim.
I have listed him as found on craiglist, as well as at the local shelter in hopes of finding his owner(s).
Tommorrow I will put up a flyer at the local supermarket as well.
And on monday when I have TIME I will have a Vet I have previously used check him for a microchip to assist in getting him to his owners if he has a chip.
Until then, my lovely houseguest will be taken care of and kept warm, fed happy and out of harms way.
Thanks and stay warm everyone!
