I realize that short diaries are against the rules, but I've seen nothing about this matter discussed and I'm sick to death of reading about Reverend Wright and the primary.
We are well into the sixth year of this war with no end in sight. The largest embassy in the world is being built in Baghdad with the eye to controlling the Middle East Oil spigot. The presumptive heir to the bush family has expressed a willingness to stay in Iraq 100 years. The inadequecy of planning has been apparent and nothing short of negligent. Lack of oversight has led to widespread fraud. My question to those in the administration and the media who state that a long term prescence is required. What is being done to train the armed forces for such a long term peacekeeping mission. What is being done to train Americans to speak the native languages of the Middle East so we are not forced to rely on interpreters of "mixed loyalties"? If as everyone admits this is a confict that can't be won by military force alone, how can we win the "hearts and minds" when we can't speak the language.
