New Richmond Police officer Jesse Kidder, in confronting a double murder suspect, used restraint when the suspect attempted "suicide by cop". Gun nuts are now PO'd that the officer didn't blow the suspect away.
Video of the officer's bodycam footage here. The bodycam was purchased by the officer's concerned family members. Officer Kidder is also former Marine, a veteran of Iraq.
The site Bearingarms.com has an article entitled "Officer Jesse Kidder Is A Fine Human Being Who Needs to Be Fired Immediately." In it, the writer claims that by not blowing away the suspect when threatened, Officer Kidder endangered lives.
After reviewing the video several times, I have to say that Jesse Kidder is a fine humanitarian… and that he should be fired from his job immediately before he gets other officers or citizens killed for being so reluctant to use force when the situation demanded it.
The author concludes the short article with:
How can any New Richmond police officer now trust Kidder in any future scenarios? Could you trust him if he was your backup to take the appropriate action in future high-risk stops? For that matter, doesn’t his reluctance to follow his training make all future interactions with him a “high risk” event for fellow officers?
So, there you have it, folks.
