Most publications geared towards Federal employees are pretty honest, straightforward, and trustworthy.
Then there's "FedSmith".
FedSmith seems to be run by and stuffed with writings from people who think that Feds are the scum of the earth. It's so bad that half the time, the main reason to read FedSmith is for its comments sections, which often have better and truer information than the articles to which they're attached.
Case in point: Their mendacious attack on Elizabeth Warren, who they accuse of "throwing seniors under the bus" with her Social Security legislation.

From http://www.fedsmith.com/... :
Warren’s proposed amendment has drawn much more media coverage than more detailed proposals from Rep. Larson (D-CT) and Senator Sanders (I-VT). Megan McArdle published probably the most worthwhile article on Bloomberg. Salon, AEI, Mother Jones, as well as Michael Hitzlik all weighed in to varying lesser degrees of success at informing the public.
Senator Warren’s proposal doesn’t deserve this much coverage. It isn’t serious. Her goal isn’t to fix Social Security. Her purpose is to change the subject which for years has been focused on the need to reduce benefit levels. As McArdle points out, the best defense is a good offense.
Given all the media attention to her proposal, the debate strategy may work. Her plan for Social Security won’t. The math is simple to understand. Social Security created 900 billion in unfunded liabilities simply because the clock moved forward by a year. That is more than the system collected in all forms of revenue. In English, every penny of benefits paid in 2013 came at the projected expense of a future retiree.
First off, anyone who seriously cites Megan McArdle as an authority on anything is ignorant, mendacious, or both. This alone would be enough to raise red flags. But the favorable cites of AEI - the American Enterprise Institute, a notorious "libertarian" outfit, definitely gives the game away.
It's not surprising then to find out that the author is one Brenton Smith, aka "Joe the Economist" and the founder of "Fix Social Security Now", a group dedicated to cutting Social Security benefits and scaring people into privatizing Social Security. Here he is getting his butt spanked by Rob Groce in the comments section of this article at If You Only News.
