Went on a "Wood Duck Wander" at Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville, NY this morning. We managed to scare every Wood Duck in the park to the other side of the lake, so no good photos of them.
I did get some nice photos at the feeders when we were done, and 2 life birds today. Red-necked Grebe and Pine Siskin.
Red-necked Grebe
Common Loon, though I don't think anything about them is common...
I saw every common woodpecker species except Yellow-bellied Sapsucker today. This is the Red-bellied Woodpecker.
Feeder birds. The American Goldfinches are really starting to look nice.
Maybe my favorite feeder bird, the Purple Finch.
Pine Siskin
Hairy Woodpecker
Tufted Titmouse
On the way home I decided to stop at a place that is within walking distance of my house. I knew the NY DEC had an access point to the Stanley Hamlin WLMA, but I didn't know that they had built a wheelchair accessible blind there. If I had known I would have stopped there every day for the last 2 years...
Canada Geese, Redhead hen
The place was crawling with Painted Turtles.
Mallard Drake
A search of eBird shows a wide range of species. American Bittern, Least Bitter, Green Heron...a Wilson's Snipe was reported a few days ago.
