Greetings and welcome to another of my Friday open thread diaries.
Again, I'm just posting a few photos. I hope they'll be worth a peek. I took them on two fairly long walks around my neighborhood and one trudge downtown in one of the finest parks to spend a Spring day in while in Prague.
The park is called Petřín and the flowering trees over there are in fine form this year:
More fluff below the fold.
I had just spent part of the morning at my favorite little print shop getting a CD cover and label printed for a project I'm working on and I had over an hour to wander before meeting my friend and client to hand over the work and step out for a brief beer or two. I called up an old friend to see what he was up to and try to arrange a time to meet for coffee and then decided to have a look at the big park nearby. I tried taking a route through the winding paths of the park that I'd never taken before and was rewarded with some interesting views:
While climbing the path along the back of the US Embassy grounds I heard a dry rustling sound in the grass along the old stone wall and thought at first that it must be a blackbird noisily getting lunch. Curiosity prodded me to investigate:
It's one of the biggest toads I've ever seen. It looks pretty small and cute on the photo doesn't it? There are a couple of small ponds in the park. I bet I know where this critter was headed. Truly a sign of Spring!
A bit different scale, but here's another sign that Spring is well and truly here:
I took that picture this morning. We had some rain last night which meant that our cozy warm Spring was back to cool and wet.
I've got a hectic weekend planned. No snail's pace for this werelynx. I'll try to stop in and be sociable as time allows. In the meantime, here's a photo that I took a couple days ago while out for an evening stroll:
Really had to experiment with my manual setting on my bitsy digital camera for that one to come out. I'm trying to do more walking, getting out for an hour almost every day. Working off the wintry fluff...
