On twitter, I was just told that "Jesus never performed gay marriage rites" as an apparent attempt to justify discrimination against same-sex marriage, couples, etc.
I responded "Yes, I know - of course, Jesus didn't perform ANY marriage ceremonies, so there's that."
Where do these people come from? More importantly, WHY ARE THEY STILL AROUND? Don't they have anywhere better to go?
...all of this has to do with the recent controversy that SemDem brought to our attention in a Recommended Diary. It has to do with an idiot who has a following, gay marriage, #RFRA, and the non-existent persecution of "All Christians" which isn't really happening, isn't happening to most Christians, and which has to do with the inconsolable sad-on that these faux-Christian claimants are outraged about due to their inability to claim a right to hate speech and discrimination as part of their "freedom of religion" (which real practitioners of Christianity actually don't engage in).
Anywho - follow over the orange swirly crescent thing for more...
I (stupidly) popped over to the Facebook page of the pig-ignorant fvckwit that started all this, and saw he's got his persecution-complex hate-on going full steam.
I posted on my own FB timeline the following:
Joshua Feuerstein and his supporters/followers are f*ckwits.
The decision to refuse to create a cake that displays a discriminatory message isn't an infringement on one's practice of religion - it's a refusal to engage in discrimination, similar to refusing to engage in hate speech...you know, two things which #JesusNeverSupported...?
Joshua Feuerstein's attempt to claim that the bakery is "anti-Christian" is ludicrous, and betrays his own failure to understand, follow, or engage in actual Christian behavior. Not all Christians feel as you do - the faith is divided.
Josh, you make fuckwittery look embarassingly easy, you ignorant sociopathic wannabe.
I then also sent out a series of
#JesusNeverSupported tweets.
In response to one of those, I received the exchange I related above the fold. It was not, unfortunately, surprising. It is still disappointing, tho, to receive such blatantly incorrect responses. (I could be wrong - pretty sure Jesus didn't perform marriages, but if I missed it in my readings, please let me know...)
I also posted the following to Facebook, to try to help #CutTheCake - the bakery that was negatively impacted by the horde of ignorant, malicious, malignant asses in their bout of aggressive fuckwittery:
Anyone with a dollar or two to spare, please help these folks - they're under attack by sociopaths, directed by a moronic teabagger with a following of faithful f*ckwits who believe unapologetic anger, threats of violence, and paranoia make them good Christians.
Cut The Cake 'Go Fund Me'
And, if you'd like to tweek the nitwit - particularly if you're Christian and don't like or condone his behavior, or the impact he's had on "Cut the Cake" with his "they're coming for us Christians" tirade of hate - then donate with ".03" cents added on in honor of Easter (the trinity).
And thank you.
The insanity of how many bigoted lunatics swarmed to support the bigoted, homophobic pizzeria's right to discriminate was a sad commentary on our nation's mental, emotional, and social health. (And maturity.)
Those of you who can, please go to the Go Fund Me link above and help out the folks at Cut The Cake. Let's provide a little balance to the world, and offset the support that teh stupid seems to have in droves.
Thank you, and a very Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate. For those celebrating Passover, or any other holiday, special occasion or remembrance, may your day also be happy, healthy, and full of the best humanity has to offer.
Namaste.
4:36 PM PT: Looks like they hit their target - thanks, folks!
