I don't often comment here, but the recent Senate action in sending a letter to Iran requires my input. The following was sent to our local paper (I'm in Kansas, better referred to as that 3rd-world country Brownbackistan). I don't know if they'll have the cojones to print it:
Treason
I have fought and bled for my country. While I have not always agreed with its policies and direction, I could never envision trying to knee-cap the President during a difficult international negotiation by providing aid and comfort to the enemy. This is the definition of treason.
Yet that is precisely what 47 senators and a number of potential presidential candidates have done by sending a letter directly to the leaders of Iran indicating that any negotiation that is accomplished could be undone in the near future.
Putting aside the fact that this negotiation is not between Obama and Iran, but between five allied countries and Iran, the very fact of the senators’ letter shows their willingness to hurt their country in the interest of partisan political advantage. It is evident that for those senators, war is the court of first resort, not last. It is as if we haven’t had enough killing in the past 15 years.
Our own two senators are signatories to that letter and are therefore traitors to their nation.
