Why don't we sit back a moment and look at what is happening and remember the last mid-term elections.
Remember the different special interest groups who didn't feel President Obama had addressed their issues, the blowback from passing the ACA,(Obamacare) and the general apathy of the voters?
This gave the House back to the Republicans by losing over 60 seats and completely eviscerated the Senate by losing 6 seats.
Now for some strange reason, we are running around and acting like we have neutered the House because they passed a clean Debt Limit Bill and it's time for Immigration Reform.
Why?
Do we like throwing elections?
When Nancy Pelosi was speaker of the House and we had a majority in the Senate, however hamstrung by that turncoat Liebermann, passing the Affordable Care Act was a real challenge and many were unhappy with the end result due to the necessary compromises.
This was when we had majorities in both the Senate and the House.
We look back now and it's hard to remember how much courage it took for some members of the House to vote yes, knowing it almost guaranteed they would lose their seat.
Right now we don't have a filibuster proof Senate majority and we have a House that as disarrayed as they look today, would circle the wagons around a reform bill and use it to meld back together and make the Democrats look foolish. It could only help them this election.
Right now we have as good of a chance as ever to coalesce and peak for this coming mid-term.
As low as the President's approval numbers have been made to look, there is no Democrat who would not welcome his appearance at their podium and the more steam the ACA gains, the better for all Democrats.
We need to pound home the wealth discrepancy, because you can feel the momentum growing for something to be done.
We should float a best scenario Immigration Reform Act out there and force the Republicans to burst that bubble. After that, no matter what type of reform they concoct, it will pale compared to what we propose.
The President is a master at timing and his approval numbers are only going to climb before the mid-terms.
We need to quit crowing so early about the GOP cohesiveness and focus on gaining a filibuster proof Senate and 25 or more seats in the House.
We should not forget the so called Blue-Dog Democrats. There is no room for them in our Party and there is nothing in our platform that recognizes their existence. Strip them of their disguises and send them over to the GOP. There is not much more smelly than a right-winger dressed up as a progressive.
After we win the mid-term election, we then turn our attention toward a real, fair and effective immigration policy that is not short term, but will address the future.
That way we can turn our focus on to other matters and not be continually distracted.
Then we can address the real elephant in the living room, the disparity of wealth and how it is strangling our Country and driving a wedge between its citizens.
