President Obama (left) and GOP (right)
(Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that stalled immigration reform would be a top priority once the fiscal crisis has been resolved.
"Once that's done, you know, the day after, I'm going to be pushing to say, call a vote on immigration reform," he told the Los Angeles affiliate of Spanish-language television network Univision.

The President has played the GOP like a fiddle in the last two weeks, holding a tough line and refusing to negotiate with hostage takers. Now the President has the wind in his sails and he is going on offense by forcing Republicans into another one of those situations where they have to cave to their teabagger base or do something, anything . . .
And of course, GOP House Reps are taking the bait . . .
GOP House Rep Raul Labrador, who was in on immigration reform negotiations until he self-deported out of them told HuffingtonPost yesterday that immigration is DOA now that Harry Reid and President Obama hurt de Weepubwicans widdle feelings . . .
"Every single time we were closer to something that actually we could both agree on, the president and his party continued to push back," he said. "It's just the way this guy negotiates. The president and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid will only negotiate in a take no prisoners type of attitude, and I just don't think it's healthy for the American people and it's definitely not healthy for immigration reform."

Because Harry Reid was very, very mean to the GOP for not doing exactly what Ted Cruz wanted.
But wait, the stupid gets worse . . .
"I think what he has done over the past two and a half weeks -- he's trying to destroy the Republican party," Labrador said of Obama. "I think that anything we do right now with this president on immigration will be with that same goal in mind, which is to destroy the Republican party and not to get good policies."

In other words, no.
Because Obama wants it and therefore by definition the GOP must be against it because. That's why, because. And Obama's sole goal is to destroy the GOP by making the GOP participate in governing.
Right.
Obama is trying to destroy the GOP by making the GOP look like a pack of delusional kooks led by Ted Cruz and his Teabagger minions. Projection issues, much?
Remind me, who is doing terribly with Latino voters and needs to do something about that ASAP? Republicans are still hell bent on denying Obama and America any victory they can, but they are also denying themselves the opportunity to improve their sorry lot with Latino voters.
Brilliance, teabagger style. It's like drinking poison and hoping the other guy dies.
More below the fold
Again we have the same impasse as the one we just avoided where House Republicans demand 100% of the debate and find NO as an excuse for not having to give an inch to President Obama or the Democratically controlled Senate. And who will this really hurt? Well, immigrants for one, who should be given a pathway to citizenship because it is the right thing to do, but more than Obama any stalling by the GOP on immigration reform will hurt the GOP with a Latino demographic they can not afford to continue to lose. Republicans can't help but think of their party over our country, whereas President Obama clearly wants to get shit done. Voters respond to that kind of things, as the last two and a half weeks have proven. One side gets that, the other side does not.
Okay, just for a moment, I would like to heap praise upon our President. The GOP bully has been hit hard with the BIG STICK and they don't like it one bit. So what do you do when you are winning? You run up the score. By pivoting back to immigration reform the President is keeping the pressure on a divided GOP that can't decide whether they hate Obama more than they want to save themselves. And no, we aren't pushing for immigration reform because we are trying to destroy you, dear Republicans, your teabagger buddies are taking care of that for us.
I leave the floor to you
