I'd like some help with a basic decision about internet access for my family. Maybe the discussion can help others here as well.
We are contemplating life after Comcast, and going with smartphone wi-fi, to provide home internet and streaming media, e.g. Netflicks. A few questions:
1) Does mobile streaming now provide a reliable, satisfying, everyday way to access home entertainment?
2) Do you need a 4G service, or does it work OK using a 3G network?
3) iPhone or Android? Is one better than the other for streaming? Pitfalls encountered with these devices?
4) Does it make sense to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network)? VPN access has gotten awfully cheap. Would you do, e.g., online banking on a smartphone without using a VPN?
Hope this inquiry can help those, like my family, who are fed up with Comcast and hope to enjoy the benefit of what seems to be a bit of competition now occurring in the mobile data access sector.
