More Tagging tips:
A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?
Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.
If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office.
CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.
Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.
Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary:
Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House.
If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state
Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries
that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Stupidity has served them well. Any guy who brags he's never read a book will get 35% of the general vote -- enthusiastically -- without saying another word about it.

But, seriously, the modern GOP seems to be living there. All the damn time. And they think they don't owe rent.

first, they have to jettison the Tea Party from all their political strata.
Then, they need to consciously move their ideals toward the center, make them more centrist.
Then, both parties need to curtail PAC funding.
And unicorns will fart rainbows.
Seriously, though, I kinda like the GOP the way it is right now.

"respectable conservative" country-club party back, is for a genuine, full-blown Know-Nothing/American Fascist party to appear and absorb the xenophobic assholes from them. While in the short term this would probably be good for Democrats, historically a big socially active fascist movement usually works out horribly for the nation in question (not to mention the rest of the world and any ethnic/social minorities that might be standing around).
Yikes, it's not eight in the morning yet and I'm already Godwinning. Either I'm getting cranky or politics is getting scary.

I hear Karl Rove has a new SuperPAC he's using to separate fools from their money, er, I mean, ensure Republican victory.
A perfect target for proposals! Listen, Rove has to prove to his easily-swindled clients that he's doing something with the money, and we need money for beer. What better way to spend it than intervierwing a few drunken rednecks in sports bars? We'll call it research, mark up the bar tab by a factor of 100, pocket the difference, and Rove gets to claim he's doing something.
It's a win-win!
