Judge sentences teen to church attendance
While I'm all for going relatively easy on first offenders, this particular method of doing so - subjecting the kid to church indoctrination - is a blatant violation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Specifically, the Establishment Clause, as the Judge is essentially endorsing - and forcing upon the defendent - the practise of a religion.
So, Kossacks? Your thoughts? Let us say that you had the power to remove Judge Norman - would you do so?
More beneath the squiggle o'doom:
This, to my mind, typifies the relentless assault on the First Amendment by the Right. Freedom of religion, to them, does not mean freedom from religion, and is irrelevant anyway - just remember the "Ground Zero Mosque" asshattery they indulged in.
It's the kind of thing that needs pushback - hard pushback - or else it will become settled practice in Jesusland.
