New Hanover County, North Carolina has seen its fair share of TeaOP candidates get into office. The most odious of the TeaOP is State Senator Thom Goolsby.
Follow below the Fleur-de-Kos for more information about 'Tea Party Thom' and how we can get him out of the NC State Senate.
Tea Party Thom has championed some great causes. Swept into office with the rest of the TeaOP class of 2010, his JOBS JOBS JOBS agenda has included letting guns onto school grounds, if it's on Sunday, voting to keep the oceans from rising by simply using data from the 1800's instead of current data, and defunding NC public education by over $1 billion.
But wait. Mr. JOBS JOBS JOBS (apparently cutting jobs was the plan, he just forgot to tell us about it) isn't going to stop there. He thinks the draconian cuts to public education weren't big enough. You know, because all the extra money in education is wasted on things like buildings and books and electricity.
Of course, like all the other 'Fiscal Conservative' TeaOP members, he thinks that zygotes, like corporations, are people. He gets free air time on a regular basis on the local hate talk radio station, and is endorsed by the 'grassroots' corporate entities that brought our region Ilario Pantano, among other things.
Oh yeah, and those incentives to bring in big businesses like Caterpillar and other manufacturing jobs? Incentives that were shot down by the TeaOP NC Senate? Blame the Governor, then take credit when a big budget movie comes to town to film, but blame the Governor for not getting a bid on 1100 jobs that went to South Carolina instead.
How do we get Tea Party Thom out of office, Deb Butler.
Deb is up against the old boy's club in Thom Goolsby, but isn't going to back down. She demanded equal time on the local hate talk radio station, and they did give her time on the air. Of course Goolsby still gets a weekly 'guest appearance' on the morning drive show.
Deb stands for everything that is NOT the TeaOP. She supports women's rights, fought against NC's terrible Amendment One, and is not afraid to call out Tea Party Thom when he makes outrageous claims.
If you're in Tea Party Thom's NC Senate district, be sure to get out the word about Deb. And please support her campaign. She's up against big corporate dollars, which seems to be the theme of elections everywhere. Yes, the Presidential election is, in the words of the Veep, a "Big Effin Deal". But we all saw in 2010 what happens down ballot is possibly even more important to people's everyday lives.
